Meditation
Service
The Meditation Service includes periods of prayer, chanting
and silent meditation. Paramahansa Yogananda emphasized that the
united devotion and concentration of many yoga devotees can
powerfully increase the depth of each individual's meditation.
Meditation Services provide opportunities to practice the
methods of concentration and meditation taught in the
Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) Lessons. All are welcome.
Healing Service
At the close of our regular services, we pray for the
physical, mental and spiritual healing of others and for world
peace and harmony. We practice the spiritual healing technique
taught by Paramahansa Yogananda. For a full description of this
technique, please see the free booklet Worldwide Prayer
Circle.
Commemoration Service
Commemoration Services honor the birthdays and mahasamadhis
of the SRF line of gurus. Those who attend bring a flower as a
symbol of devotion to the one being honored and a monetary
offering in an envelope as an expression of loyalty to the work
of SRF. All who can participate with reverence are welcome.
Kirtan and
Meditation
Kirtan meditations include longer periods of devotional
singing to God accompanied by traditional Indian instruments
including a harmonium, cymbals, tablas, and a tamboura.
Satsanga
When a minister visits from SRF Mother Center, there is often a
Satsanga service where the minister provides answers to written
spiritual questions. If you have questions, put them in the box
in the bookroom.
Sunday
School
Children from ages four to eight are invited to attend Sunday
School classes during the Sunday Lecture Services. Parents with
younger children may care for them in the Family Room while
watching the service via a live video feed.
Youth Group
Youth from ages nine to fourteen are invited to attend Youth
Group classes during the Sunday Lecture Services.
Weekly Light
Refreshment Socials (Every Sunday)
Everyone is invited to attend our light refreshment socials
immediately after the Sunday service each
week.
NOTE: For buffet luncheons when monastics are visiting,
please coordinate any dish you wish to bring with the Social
Committee prior to the luncheon. This is necessary
to better coordinate the luncheon when we have many guests and
members in attendance. Thanks!
Center
Service
Committees
The Center Service Committees are composed of those who would like
to help make the day-to-day contributions in running the Center.
Check with any member of the Managing Council for information.
All are welcome to participate.

Newcomers may be uncertain about how to become a part of the
temple activities. Often they may feel that everyone else
knows each other well and they are the only "outsiders".
This is simply not the case. We are all brothers and sisters
in Paramahansa Yogananda's family. First, by meditating with
others at the temple, one begins to feel authentic bonds
with other devotees, even though often there may be no
verbal communication before or after the meditations.
Consider attending the meditations when you can.
Secondly, there are always tasks at the center that always
need extra hands, since the members, consisting of anyone
who attends regularly, also voluntarily care for the center.
Committees that look for
volunteers are the Sunday School Committee, the Flower
Committee, and the Bookroom Committee.
Finally, there are special activities that arise regularly
throughout the year which need volunteers-such as our
holiday celebrations, luncheons, and other special
gatherings. There is always a sign-up sheet that remains
empty until people like you sign up to help.
We welcome you. |
